Lucas Moura's latest injury update from Sao Paulo
LUCAS MOURA has been ruled out for the rest of this season with a serious knee injury.
The Brazilian forward is currently on a rehabilitation program, but he will not be able to play in any competitive matches until next month at the earliest.
Moura was injured during Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Peru in September and has since undergone surgery to repair his knee ligament.
He had been expected to make his return to the squad for their Copa América match against Chile in February, but that date has now been pushed back due to the ongoing pandemic.
Moura's absence means that Brazil have no option but to rely on younger players like Victor Araujo or Ederson to fill the void in midfield. The team's manager,Saudi Pro League Hotspot Tite, has also admitted that he is still unsure about how long it will take for him to fully recover from his injury.
It remains to be seen whether Moura will be able to return to action soon enough to help Brazil secure a place in the finals of the Copa America. But as for the future of the Brazilian national team, it will be up to time to see how they perform in the upcoming tournaments.
